Well, for the first time in a long time...I actually won a contest. No, not the Powerball. Were that it, I'd be posting this from a solid gold computer...well, my hired manservant would be posting this from a solid gold computer. I'd be doing rich guy things like counting my money and waving around and such.

No, no Powerball for me...but I did win...I won two tickets to see the touring production of The Producers at War Memorial Auditorium! I actually clicked on a sidebar ad on WFMY's website and entered the contest there. And, lo and behold, I won! The show was last night and it was excellent!

I have never been to a touring Broadway show and really did not know what to expect. I guess I have been to enough community theater musicals that that was the image that I had in my mind. Decent, but not great. These guys though, were well worth the three hours I spent.

The only miscues I saw were technical errors, such as curtains not being pulled out far enough (or too far) or some minor sound mixing errors, but no big deal, especially since they have to unload, install and work several massive sets in different locations every 4-5 days.

The singing and acting were very good, even if it seemed that the performers were at times imitating Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick. I guess when they go out to do these types of shows, they know that most audiences are looking for an accurate reproduction of the show, not a new take on it.

All in all, an excellent way to spend the evening...especially since I did not have to pay for the two $55.00 tickets!

I decided to delete the really old posts from the blog, most of which dated back to the FSCS days, and revamp the links at the side to reflect some friends and some other ministry blogs that I frequent. Wow! Two posts in a month??? What is the world coming to???

Long Time...No See

Well, I guess that a year and a half is long enough between blog posts.

So much has changed since I last posted here...I work at a different school, go to a different church, am married to the same woman...I guess that one isn't a change.

I have been the Executive (read: assistant) Pastor of Living Proof Community Church in Asheboro since June of this year. We are just over a year old and are getting ready for a big move to Southwestern Randolph High's auditorium for our Sunday services starting September 3rd. Check out our website for lots more info about us than I can put here!

I now teach full-time at Vandalia Christian School in Greensboro. I teach science and speech/drama. It is a great school and I love having the opportunity to work with the great people there.

Finally, our church also has its own blog that is worth checking out at lpcc.wordpress.com. As far as I know, we are the only blogging church in Randolph County. You can find out information about our events as well as hear from myself and our pastor, Nick McNeill on various ministry issues that go into starting a new church.

Anyway, since my picture is currently on the front page of the Randolph Is Talking blog, I'll try to update my site even more. At least, more than once every 18 months...
